A list of items that the head of Korea Customs Service
announces considering the characteristics and
clearance environment of each item in accordance
with individual Acts to determine whether the item
needs Customs Verification of Clearance
Requirements. If the item, at the time
of importation/exportation, does not satisfy the legal
requirements as such, it cannot be cleared in customs.

A list of items announced by the head of Ministry
of Trade, Industry, and Energy, by integrating matters
concerning import and export requirements and pro-
cedures for such items prescribed in the individual
Acts, in order to check import and export require-
ments, to simplify the customs clearance work and to
manage trade order. If the item is not included in the
items subject to Customs Verification of Clearance
Requirements, it is not sanctioned upon customs
clearance, but is designated to carry out the require-
ments verification procedure specified in the individual
statutes.

and of the Individual Statutes.

02Precautions
  • As the standards of Koran markings and the acceptable ingredients are different for different types of food, it is necessary to confirm the type and acceptable ingredients of the food before importation

02Precautions
  • All areas directly in contact with food should be checked, and import should be carried out by minimizing any risk that may arise later by verification of the samples prior to import, as the marking method, cautions markings, and inspection costs are different for different types of materials.

02Precautions
  • Import Prohibition and Import Requirements are designated mostly per each item (HS CODE). Therefore, import must be carried out
    after confirming the possibility of importation and necessary documents by preview (of the product, of scientific name, and of the usage) before importation.

  • Must check if the item is subject to safety certification and self-safety inspection (in case of safety certification, factory inspection is required)
  • Prior review is required before imporation as the number of samples and materials required differs for each item

  • Confirmation needed whether the good is subject to safety certification and safety assurance
    (in case of safety certification, a factory on-site inspection is required)
  • Prior review required before import (unconfirmed part needs to be tested when CB report is not prepared – sample costs, expenses, and lead time can increase)

  • Register or apply for exemption in accordance with Act on Registration, Evaluation, etc. on Chemicals after confirming the composition and usage.
  • For hazardous chemicals according to Act on Registration, Evaluation, etc. on Chemicals, procedures for each component must be carried out.
